On July 29, the FUSD Board of Education voted to reevaluate the School Resource Officer (SRO) program at FUSD high schools. To highlight all the perspectives on SROs on FUSD campuses, the Smoke Signal reached out to Board of Education trustees, SROs, community members, and students. The Board will be voting on the future of the SRO program on November 12 with input from the SRO Task Force, which consists of students, parents, community members, and board members.

The Fremont community, parents and labor representatives of the FUSD SRO Taskforce have been busy at work for the past month reviewing the FUSD SRO program. At the 10/8 meeting of the SRO Taskforce, various sub-task forces presented intermediate reports of their findings, building towards a final report which will be submitted to the FUSD Board on November 12.
