Through COVID-19’s unprecedented circumstances, looking back at history can help us learn from our past mistakes. The 1918 Spanish Flu, lasting from Spring 1918 to 1920, was a similar pandemic which infected 500 million people across the world. Just as COVID-19 has affected sports today, the 1918 Spanish Flu also halted sports activities. From mask wearing to social distancing, many historical policies draw parallels to today.
