FUSD Superintendent Kim Wallace announced her resignation from the district in a Special Meeting with the FUSD Board of Education on March 20. She informed the Board that she would not seek to renew her contract on March 11, and submitted her letter of resignation on March 19. The Board voted to accept Wallace’s resignation and developed a transition plan: Wallace will continue to serve the district until June 30 — when her contract expires — while current Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Raul Zamora will begin serving as Acting Superintendent.
In a March 20 letter to FUSD faculty and employees, Wallace wrote, “After long and careful consideration, I ultimately decided that this is the right time for me to pursue other professional goals.”
Wallace began her career at FUSD in 2014 as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction. Three years later, she was voted unanimously by the FUSD Board of Education to the Superintendent position in 2017, when Former Superintendent James Morris announced his retirement after seven years.
In her letter, Wallace also wrote, “I thank you all for enriching my life and allowing me to work with you over the past six years to serve the students of Fremont Unified … I have been grateful every day for the opportunity to inspire, educate, and challenge myself and others.”
