MSJ Varsity Boys Tennis took on American High School (AHS) in an away game on Thursday, March 2. Despite the intense heat, there were many spectators, particularly from MSJ. At 4:00-6:00 p.m., over the span of seven singles and doubles matches, the two teams clashed in a close, thrilling encounter.
Varsity Co-Captain Junior Matthew Li played Court 1 alongside Varsity Co-Captain Senior Vittesh Maganti, defeating AHS’s top doubles team 6-2, 6-1. On the top singles court, Freshman Harvey Qian prevailed over his opponent with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 win.
Ultimately, despite a narrow loss of 3-4 after tight games, MSJ showed strong leadership and camaraderie while promising fresh new talent in the form of Qian and Sophomore Archit Shenoy, who also won his game.
