Hosted by Leadership 2’s Activities Team, MSJ’s inaugural Clash Royale tournament comprised more than 60 duos, who clashed amongst themselves in an interactive, bracket-style competition to battle for a highly coveted $80 cash prize.
In a whirlwind of intense competition spread across four days, with teams each employing distinctive deck strategies to outwit their opponents, Team The Rizzlers — Seniors Andrew Li and Myron Wu — prevailed against Team When Sheeps [sic] Fly — Seniors Brandon Wang and Allen Yang — dominating the bracket with an outstanding performance in a 4-0 finals victory. Following the tournament, the winning team commended the event’s turnout, accentuating the vivacious spirit felt throughout. However, the team also emphasized the lack of diversity and inclusivity. “The turnout was amazing … and I would [love to] participate again because it was very fun and the energy was great. [But one thing I noticed was] the lack of diversity, as it was pretty much all boys who already grind Clash [Royale], so in the future I would love to see a competitive tournament around a more accessible game,” Li said.

With more than 120 participants, the event turnout exceeded expectations, surpassing last year’s Brawl Stars Tournament as one of the largest events in MSJ history. “I think it was a great success … A lot of people [were] hyped to see the finals, and I think in the future [A-team] can continue to host more events like this,” L2 A-team Member Junior Kaiwei Parks said.
