Meet the ASB Candidates 2025-26

With the final voting for the 2025-26 ASB officers coming up this Friday, students may have seen the candidates campaigning online, on social media platforms like instagram, or in person with large posters in the BTQ. This article introduces the final candidates, their qualifications, and their goals for the future of MSJ.

 

ASB President Candidates

Kalena Dai

From her term as Junior Class President, 2025-26 ASB President Candidate Junior Kalena Dai aims to use her leadership experience to serve MSJ in a new position. As the president of her class for three consecutive years, Dai hopes to improve MSJ events with a night market event to support local small businesses, as well as creating an official MSJ calendar complete with club and school events beyond the current blood and canned food drives.

“[After] doing three years of class president, I was really inspired by L2 members and their dedication to the school to run for ASB President. … After serving on L2’s community committee, I hope to bring new ideas to life [in MSJ].” — Kalena Dai, 11

Jadon Li

After serving as class officer for two consecutive years, 2025-26 ASB President Candidate Sophomore Jadon Li hopes to continue serving MSJ as an ASB officer. Apart from being class president, Li is also the co-captain for the JV Boys Basketball team, operates a basketball coaching business, and is active in clubs such as MSJ Interact, MSJ DECA, and MSJ Climbing Club. Li’s plans for the next school year include integrating AI to centralize information and setting up polls to gather student feedback.

“As an incoming junior, I know the workload would be heavy, but I am confident in the system I’ve maintained so far and am determined to serve the school to the best of my ability.” — Jadon Li, 10

ASB Vice President Candidates 

Prahlad Canchi

After serving as Junior Class President, 2025-26 ASB Vice-President Candidate Prahlad Vangeepuram Canchi wishes to further serve MSJ with lots of plans and even more school spirit. In addition to being a part of Leadership 2’s (L2) Activities Committee where he organizes school spirit activities and assemblies, Canchi’s 11 years as a Boy Scout and recent promotion to Eagle Scout demonstrate his eagerness to serve his communities. As Vice President, Canchi hopes to streamline the club formation process, as well as reduce the delays between club presentations.

Well, I think our school is running fairly smoothly now and so I would just like to increase the communication on the Club’s Facebook page. So that it’s [not] difficult for new people to get an idea of how clubs are formed right now, [and] so maybe it’s a little … easier [for students to understand].” — Prahlad Vangeepuram Canchi, 11

Vittesh Maganti

Following his years as boy’s tennis captain, 2025-26 ASB Vice President Candidate Junior Vittesh Maganti has made the jump from the tennis court to the ASB ballot. Having been an active officer of several clubs, from Neuroscience to Biotechnology, Maganti is set on improving clubs at mission. As Vice President, Maganti plans to focus on adding club forums to fix the problems of a system essential to the MSJ community.

“The Vice President has a direct impact on clubs. And I feel that clubs are a great way to improve the overall community of MSJ.” — Vittesh Maganti, 11

ASB Secretary Candidates 
Jeffrey Li

2025-26 ASB Secretary Candidate Junior Jeffrey Li hopes to bring his experiences in club leadership to serving the school community. His previous leadership experience includes a term as Sophomore Class Secretary, a co-captain of MSJ’s award winning Science Olympiad team, and Vice President of MSJ Academic Challenge. As Secretary, Li’s primary focus is to provide MSJ students with college and career resources.

“I know MSJ students care a lot about their future and are also some of the most dedicated and committed students I’ve ever met. I want to provide resources also create an alumni network so people can talk to experienced MSJ students.” — Jeffrey Li, 11

Brittany Lu

In clubs such as MSJ DECA and MSJ Paws, 2025-26 ASB Secretary Candidate Junior Brittany Lu has held several leadership positions. She hopes to utilize her leadership skills from her current role as Junior Class Secretary to upgrade the MSJ club landscape. Lu intends on implementing social media to highlight MSJ’s active clubs in order to improve overall engagement.

“And overall… I can provide my skills that I’ve learned from just being a leader in my other clubs to this position the best.” —Brittany Lu, 11

ASB Treasurer Candidates
Angel Li

Having been class treasurer in years past, 2025-26 ASB Treasurer Candidate Junior Angel Li returns to the ballot, running to improve club experiences for MSJ students. The former Sophomore and Freshman Class Treasurer is also serving as the co-president of Interact Club, representing Li’s administrative capabilities. Li hopes to digitize parts of the club requisition and fundraiser process to ease club access while streamlining the paperwork for all parties involved.

“My three words would be ‘trying my best’ because that’s what I would do if I were put into the position to serve my community [as ASB Treasurer].” — Angel Li, 11

Justin Wu

2025-26 ASB Treasurer Candidate Junior Justin Wu’s experiences as class treasurer, business owner, and member of the Student Store committee have prepared him for the future responsibilities of his potential new role. Having managed more than six figures in business funds, he’s experienced in handling money. Wu’s business-oriented approach to the position aims to increase school funds, simplify complex processes, and boost engagement.

“I’ve always been interested in money in every aspect. I believe I can positively affect the school with past experience in managing six figures in cash.” — Justin Wu, 11

ASB Activities Coordinator Candidates
Jennifer Li

With firsthand experience as part of L2’s Activities Team (A-team), 2025-26 ASB Activities Coordinator Candidate Junior Jennifer Li understands the responsibilities of her potential new role. Throughout the year, her collaboration with other members of A-team has brought MSJ several new, exciting activities during lunch like real-life adaptations of students favorite games, such as Dress to Impress. If elected, Li hopes to continue adding fresh ideas to improve student engagement and spirit.

“To be completely honest, I just love activities. Before joining A-team, I would’ve never imagined myself running for an ASB position, but over the past year, I’ve come to realize just how exciting and rewarding it is to help create events that bring joy not only to me but to the entire student body.” — Jennifer Li, 11

Daojing Lin

Leveraging his experience as a Marching Band Drum Major and Boy Scout, 2025-26 ASB Activities Coordinator Candidate Junior Daojing Lin hopes to increase MSJ school spirit in his new role. Lin plans to initiate quarterly raffles for school merchandise, combined with more modern designs and items, to drum up school spirit. Outside of MSJ, Lin loves to play piano and basketball, and can even play music by ear thanks to his perfect pitch.

“I chose to run for ASB Activities Coordinator because I believe that this most suited my style of leadership and personality, [since] I work better in an unrestrained environment. I hope to bring experience, innovation, and engagement [to MSJ].” — Daojing Lin, 11
