MSJ’s football team kicked off the new fall sports
This year, MSJ’s football team is lead by seniors Adil Bari, Chris Stoneking, Bubba Guzman, and Jason Chen, who serve as the team’s captains. Lead by Head Coach Sam Baugh, the team worked throughout the summer to train new and returning players in terms of both strength and skill.
On Thursday, the team made a total of six touchdowns, five of which were made by Captains Guzman, Bari, and Chen. Junior Sameer Mohseni scored two touchdowns, and overall, the team was able to establish an extremely strong offense against Richmond.
Reflecting on the game, senior Elliot Tu said, “I personally think we could’ve played a lot better against Richmond. We understand that there’s a lot we could’ve done better, and we need to be able to capitalize on those opportunities down the stretch if we want to continue winning. But I’m really proud of the way we played and we got the win so that’s what matters. Our team is solid. We have a lot of seniors across the board, and the younger guys are really stepping up. I mean, Sameer scored 2 touchdowns in his first varsity game ever. That’s ridiculous. Now we expect more from not only him, but ourselves too as the season goes on. Right now, our only goal is winning our next game, and we’ll go from there.”
MSJ’s football team faced off against Albany in their second game of the season at TAK Stadium today. Varsity began playing at 6:30 pm, while the Junior Varsity game started at 4:00 pm.
