MSJ’s Phoenix Art and Literary Magazine is hosting their annual Winter Poetry Slam on February 1 from 6-9 PM at Mission Coffee. The Poetry Slam will feature MSJ students performing poetry, prose, vocals, and music. Profits from the event will be used towards producing Phoenix’s annual magazine at the end of the year. Phoenix is also hosting a poetry contest as part of the event. The winner of the contest will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card and a free copy of the 2013 magazine. Anyone interested in participating in the contest should email phoenixmsj@gmail.com. Phoenix is still looking for performers for the show so anyone interested in singing, rapping, reading poetry, or performing music should email phoenixmsj@gmail.com. Tickets will be sold starting Monday, January 28 for $5 at the belltower.
