Ocean’s 14 Juniors Review

Owl City: Hey Carly, did you see the juniors at lunch today?

Carly Rae Jepsen: Yeah they looked like they were having a pretty good time! They were showing a bunch of class spirit, even before their skit started.

Owl City: Things did die down a little bit toward the middle of their skit, but fellow classmates were able to rally the rest of the juniors again. The other classes weren’t that loud though; the juniors didn’t put much in the skit for them to cheer for, and the sophomore character didn’t show up until halfway through.

Carly Rae Jepsen: There was definitely a little too much cheering from the juniors for the repeated mocking of the sophomores for their alleged lack of originality.

Owl City: Though some of the skit didn’t seem to promote unity, the final product certainly reflected the principle and even overstated it a little toward the end.

Carly Rae Jepsen: Overall the plot was really easy to follow and the theme was pretty cohesive until the end. Their airbands were pretty solid too.

Owl City: Gangnam Style was also heavily featured, and a significant amount of time was spent showing off the “horse-riding” dance. But I’ve never seen anything like that baton performance! The gymnastics routine was pretty cool too.

Carly Rae Jepsen: I was glad they had a decent variety of airbands, ranging from hip hop to kungfu, which was also incorporated well into the skit.

Owl City: The last hip-hop dancers had tons of energy and were more in sync than the majority of the airbands that performed today.

Carly Rae Jepsen: The ball room performance was definitely well-written but the girls’ dresses were way too revealing. What was up with that?

Owl City: Really? I thought they were okay. The rest of the costumes were pretty neat too, especially the tutu-like ruffles some of the jazz girls were wearing.

Carly Rae Jepsen: The decorations were pretty comprehensive too, and I loved that the dice rained money at the end of the skit.

Owl City: The backdrop and props had awesome design and were creative and detailed while sticking to the class theme.

Carly Rae Jepsen: My favorite was the Vegas strip on the side of the ramp that depicted several hotels. The playing cards on the sides of the trashcans in the horseshoe were cute too, and the flags attached to the ramps provided a nice touch as well.

Owl City: The flags were actually made at the last minute! In the morning, the wind blew down the casino structure over another ramp, so kudos to the officers for thinking of that solution!

Carly Rae Jepsen: Overall, the juniors were successful in taking on the oceans, but can they handle the world? Look out for the senior performance tomorrow at lunch!

  • Good job juniors! Even with all the problems with weather, you guys still managed to rock homecoming! This is what HC is all about!

  • Okay so I missed tahitian and kung fu, but from what I saw:

Overall their airbands were good. The quality was about the same as last year (which was also good) with a few improvements, but the coordination could've been better with some of them.

All-girl's hip hop could've been a little more in-sync. I like their music choice though.

The dresses for ballroom were not "too revealing" wtf prude.

The burlesque-style jazz with the 6 girls was good. Very original with the chairs. (Go Joanna!)

Their boys booty was better this year.

Last hip hop was awesome with the popping and body isolations and then jumping into a split (I love you David Wi).

    Baton was amazing as always.

And their backdrop and decorations were amazing! I love the dice and giant face cards that were hanging from the wires!

Their skit was better than last year, but I though that each of the protagonists could have had more character like the characters from the junior skit last year. The most lively one was Kennedy (Austin!).

The "original" joke got kind of old.

    Overall great job!

  • I think the Juniors did amazing. No matter what anyone has to say about it . The outfits were fine, the skip was awesome, the dances were amazing, the decorations were crazy great. And in the end it showed that everyone came together. So some of this isnt true. Yeah we did hate on the sophomores to much but Its all out of joking fun. In the end Mission is like one giant family.

    • I would have to disagree Juniorss. I think that the Juniors were WAY over the top with hating on the sophmores. While I can see why the juniors were angry, I don't think that justifies all of the negativity.
