SHARP – The Summer High School Apprenticeship Research Program at UC Berkley is a four week program which gives K-12 students an opportunity to work on hand-on scientific investigations with Berkley’s Nanoscience and Engineering (NSE) graduate group. The research work will encompass studies of nanostructure building blocks, and how it is applicable to materials science and engineering technologies. Each SHARP student will spend Monday through Thursday working on a research project with his/her mentor. On Friday’s, students will participate in lab classes on semi-conductor processing, experimental design and data analysis. SHARP researchers will be required to spend eight hours in the lab every day, but will receive a $1000 stipend at the end of the program for their research ventures.
Requirements: Junior in High School, with the completion of at least two years of science courses and high level math courses.

Humanities
EPGY – Stanford’s EPGY Summer Institute’s high school program is a two to four week residential program which grants students the opportunity to pursue their academic interests in specific subject areas that are taught by Stanford faculty. Subject areas available to students are Arts, Humanities, Bioscience, Business, Economics, Social Science and Engineering. The program involves academic, as well as social activities and is accessible to students from grades 9 – 12. The program will take place in three sessions during the summer. Session one: June 20th – July 9th ; Session two : July 12th – July 31st; Session Two E : July 12th – August 7th

CNDI – The Cal National Debate Institute is a 2 – 4 week residential program offering numerous workshops in policy and Lincoln Douglas debate. The program will involve students in three types of debate labs, partitioned by debating experience, which will prepare students for national circuit competitions: Regent labs, Traditional Labs and Beginner Labs. With exposure to labs, students will additionally learn crucial debating skills via extensive lectures, practice rounds and individualized attention from UC Berkley faculty.
Requirements: Debating experiences based on which lab a students applies for (Regent Labs). No grade level requirement.
